WHAT IS CROSSFIT?
CrossFit is an extremely efficient and effective way to get into world-class shape. Movements are executed at high intensity in a group setting; a fun, friendly boot camp environment, with weights. Our workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements, like: Pushups and pull-ups, Olympic lifting, Kettlebells, Gymnastics, Deadlifts, Running, Rowing, Squats, and more.
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE OR SOME MINIMUM LEVEL OF FITNESS?
CrossFit is for anyone, regardless of their age or fitness level. Our members range from top competing athletes in their peak to middle-aged men and women and desk jockeys with barely enough hand-eye coordination to use a mouse. In short, if you care about your health, want to get fitter /stronger /faster, or just want to look better naked, CrossFit is for you. Pushups and pull-ups, Olympic lifting, Kettlebells, Gymnastics, Deadlifts, Running, Rowing, Squats, and more.
WHAT IF I’M REALLY OUT OF SHAPE AND I’M KIND OF TERRIFIED?
We promise you’ll be totally fine. Trust us. However, if you’re still nervous about the “First Free Class” feel free to drop by and talk to us and we'll show you around a bit. You can even observe an on-going class to get an idea of what CrossFit is like!
I HAVE/HAD AN INJURY. CAN I STILL TAKE PART?
While we highly recommend you discuss any workout program with your physician, we do find that many of our members have successfully used CrossFit to rehabilitate from injuries. Because people continue to move, work, and play in the real world regardless of injury history, we believe the best route to long-term health is to learn perfect form on functional movements, and to slowly build strength in those movements, rather than to avoid them altogether. Our instructors are always happy to work with you to scale and substitute exercises and tailor workouts to your abilities. That said, we cannot offer you specific medical advice, and advise that you consult your physician before starting this (or any other) exercise program.
WHAT HAPPENS IN MY FREE TRIAL CLASS?
Each Class contains a quick summary of the concepts behind CrossFit. You’ll then learn perfect form on a couple of simple, functional movements, which you’ll piece together into a real CrossFit workout, to give you a taste of our approach. Most people realise they could be in far better shape, much faster, by doing CrossFit, and quickly join up.
I HAVE NOT DONE CROSSFIT, BUT I'M FIT AND EXPERIENCED. CAN I SKIP THE FUNDAMENTALS AND JUST SIGN UP?
No. We require everyone new to CrossFit to learn the Fundamentals, so that we can make sure all of our members learn the basics of safe and effective movement. That also makes classes better for everyone, since we don’t have to start from scratch each time a movement comes up.
WHAT MUST I BRING?
Yourself. Plus basic ‘workout clothes’: shorts or sweats, a t-shirt, sneakers. Your own water bottle and towel for hygiene purposes. We provide everything else. Oh and of course a “can-do attitude”.
